Harmony's Fall Fashion Picks

When it come's to fashion, I am an average girl. I know a little bit about a little bit -- and I know what I like when I see it. I try to stay up on new trends, new designers, and I get it in where I can, BUT I am a total bargain shopper and for the most part I prefer timeless pieces that can be mixed in and used throughout the year. I will usually go for 2-3 "trend" pieces each season, but that's about it.

So -- here are some of my recent picks for the Fall. This happens to be my absolute favorite time of the year. I love solid, bold hues, metals, knits, sweaters, boots, and all things Autumn. I'm a Midwest gal from Detroit -- so we know how to manage fashion with Winter function!!

BARGAIN ALERT: Picked up these Super cute Plum, open toe boots at Payless [GASP]. They look great, feel comfy, and will look nice with skinny jeans, all black errythang ensembles, and fall color mini dresses too!

Again with the purple hues (my fav this season), I scooped these basic moccasins. Fur on the inside make them ultra comfy flats to pair up with some oversized tops and scarfs this fall.

BASIC MUST-HAVE: For all the glitz and glamour, studs, sequins, colors......ect. I need my basic black leather go-to bag. Yes, this Authentic Coach bag was a lil pricey, it's still worth it because you can take it to the bank that I'll be rocking this time next year. You can NEVER go wrong with black leather.

IN-CLOSET SHOPPING: This is a vintage thrift-store find from last year. It's a beautiful pewter/khaki/greenish color. Soft, fitting, warm, and matches just about everything. I didnt pick it up till almost the end of the year so I only got 1-2 wears out of it. Look for me in this trench around town this season -- cuz I plan to get alot of use out of it.

OK- again with Plum!! I'm loving this shade for the Fall. I also picked up a really pretty blueish grey color by Nicole, and Gold by Finger Paints. All of these shades are going to do well this season, and all 3 are pretty easy to find. I really like some of the fall shades this season by OPI and my personal favorite - China Glaze. [check Ulta for OPI and Sally's for China Glaze and Orly]

Dicroic Glass is my new mini-obsession. These pieces are usually custom made and found in consignment stores, craft shoes, and trading posts. I haven't really seen them at major department stores too often. The colors and shape are very edgy and can totally set off a neckline. I usually don't even wear too much else [jewelry-wise] when I wear one of these.

Last but not least -- Brooches [my personal calling cards] are a must have in the Fall/Winter. Knock on Grandma's door and get you some vintage, or hit the local thrift stores for the good stuff. I never buy brooches brand new...it's like a cardinal rule of mine.

By now, if you live in the DC, Maryland, or Virginia region and have a twitter account --- chances are, you are one of the 50,000+ users who follow @DMVFollowers. A local group of social networking gurus who brainstormed and mastered the "mass-follow" system on twitter. Not only did they pioneer the "mass follow" here in the DMV --- they are getting everyone around them to hop on the follow trains, daily! Here is a short, down and dirty interview with the fellas from DMV Followers:

@HarmonyMuzik: When did you first start the @dmvfollowers account?
@DMVFollowers: February 19th, 2010

HM: What made you think to do it?
DMVF: At first, we made the page to help support 1/2 of the owners so called, "rap career" and needed some kind of extra push behind his music. At this time he was already big on Facebook but we needed another outlet for more people to view his videos, so we made the page. We decided to only follow people in the DMV area and once our friends started supporting the idea, then it was on from there.

HM: How has it benefitted you personally?
DMVF: We've met alot of influential people throughout the city, people who do things for the community and all sorts of positive people. It's not only great to have a personal relationship with these people but these people also help us brand ourselves.

HM: Please tell my readers some things about the people who run @dmvfollowers.
DMVF: We're two guys 19 & 21 and we like Chipotle & Chick-Fila and eat it faithfully. We play video games allot, preferably NBA2k & Call of Duty. We genuinely do this Twitter thing for EVERYONE in the DMV and we love all the people who support us.

HM: What are your thoughts on on the new "@DMV" twitter accounts. It seems like yall have been swagger-jacked a little bit. Do you feel some kind of way? Or do you all welcome the new wave of DMVUnity type twitter accounts and profiles?
DMVF: We feel like some of the DMV Twitters are pointless but there are some pages out there that are really worth making. As long as you have a legitimate purpose for making the page then make it, but why come with the same idea as someone else and try to make it better than the person you stole it from? It's just not going to work.

HM: Where can people find DMVFollowers Merchandise?

HM: I can't help but notice your strong devotion to The Board Administration and Black Cobain, do you all work for them, or are you just big fans?
DMVF: We don't work for BOA, we work with BOA and Black Cobain, but he's a good friend of ours and one of the best rap artist in the DMV area.

HM: Are you all signed to The Board Administration as artists? If not, do you hope to be someday?
DMVF: No we don't make music so we're not looking forward to being artist anywhere.

HM: From your perspective, watching everything that seems to go on in the DMV Music scene, do you have any predictions for who willl be "next to blow" ??
DMVF: Black Cobain & Fat Trel are on deck next, please don't get it twisted, these people are HUGE in the area, but when you say the word, "blow", to us that means nationwide which these artist are on the verge of doing, they're on next.

HM: I'm sure the big question on everyone's mind is -- what do you look for when you are choosing people to "shout out" on the trains, and how can your followers improve their chances to get a Shout Out?
DMVF: Spamming us is NOT the way, after the spammers we don't really pick and choose, it's very random. We do sometimes make sure we get people who show us alot of love during the trains.

Disclaimer: This list is bias, skewed, and subjective. These are the covers that happeend to strike me as interesting and unique. The grading scale is undefinable. I have ONLY listed 9.....as I am still in search for #1. So please leave comments with pictures and/or links to a potential #1. I'll say this....I'm looking for covers that are unique, original, and no the average photoshop bullshit [i.e. Cars, cartoony looking characters, dice, flames, money in the air].

Cover art can be just as important as the content, as it is the first impression a future fan sees. Poor or unoriginal artwork speaks volumns, and lets the potential listener know there is a good chance the music will SUCK. So check these out and let me know what you all think --->

I found this cover on DCMumboSauce [DJ Heat's one-stop shop blog for all things DMV Music]. It stood out to me because of the colors, the pictures, and of course the way that the designer put it all together. While I had not previously heard of this artist, the cover art alone made me inclined to want to check it out.

09. Alison Carney - AlisonWonderland

What really struck me about this cover, was that having already heard several of the project cuts, I thought that the artwork really matched the project. It's light, whimsical, and a very imaginative. With a title like "AlisonWonderland" there are a million directions the artwork could have went, but they kept it simple and clean, and I liked that. I'm not sure who the graphic designer was, but shout out to Mr. Anthony Tilghman for the photography work behind this cover!

08. Napoleon Da Legend - The Myth or The Legend

This had to be one of the more intriguing covers I've seen in a long time. While the cover is multi-faceted, it manages to stay cohesive. Almost immediately after I got Napoleon's highly anticipated album, I popped it right into my Cd player, and ended up riding around with it in the car for several weeks. With a cover like this, who wouldn't be curious to see what this guy is going to say?

07. Audra the Rapper - The Miseducation of Audra

When I first heard the title of this mixtape, I ASSUMED the artword [like the namesake] would match the same wood-engraved L-Boogie cover. However, while they stuck with the school day's theme, I thought it was very clever the way they flipped it into a detention-esq Jetson's style cartoon cover. This looks like the type of cartoon kids would go nuts over. The cover was created by Asia Horton.

The Beat Kings is a mix of pop, r&b, and hip hop remixes of some of the biggest chart-topping hits. Livia of three29design [England] took the theme of the mixtape and created a very unique, clean, yet striking mixtape cover. This was an equally classic cover, for a regionally classic album. With the centerpiece being XO's infamous trademark, you can also spot the details in the watermarked/slightly transparent collage of photos.

04. Sinitus Tempo - Koyo

This cover was the inspiration for this blog post in the first place. I came across it on Sinitus' twitter avi, and I had to stop what I was doing to look closer at the artwork. I couldn't help but think how wonderful and peaceful this project would be. It just looks calming....

Funny thing is, this is the cover to an album that has not even been created yet. Sinitus is in the process of raising funds to create a truly artistic endeavour, including music and film. Support his cause by clicking the "pledge here" link.

03. Laelo Hood - Fuck the World

Quite possibly one of the MOST controversial covers I've seen come out this year, potentially only second to Kanye's "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" cover, Laelo literally FUCKS the World. This cover is basically an eye orgasm...I don't care what you say. There is so much going on, you gotta look at it many times over to see all the subliminals. I heard a rumor there might (if not already) be vinyls available upon request for this...and I think it would make a dope addition to any avid collector's stock.

02. Kokayi - Robots and Dinosaurs

Just like Kokayi's music, this album cover is a blend and mixture of everything awesome known to man. Designed by graphics artist Lindy Kanand [Seattle], this cover looks something out of a kids's imagination (if that kid had a very high IQ and slept in an AC/DC t-shirt]. I highly suggest you check out the album, peep the vids, and follow the homie Kokayi.

The day has finally arrived!! Here is the Gen X project.
It features artists such as Tone Trump, Uptown XO,
Whitefolkz, Jay Mills, Laelo Hood, Enoch 7th Prophet, and Calmplex.
The production on this mixtape couldn't have been more perfect!
J-Scrilla, Basshedz, Benny Rome, Grussle, + Jupyter Muzik all
come together with a great blend of sounds.

Gen X was executively produced by myself, and
Matt "Certified" Jones [Nu Rev/ FBE].
Certified and I spent nearly 8+ months working on the sounds and foundation
for the project. Certified also produced several tracks on the project,
and contributed to the mixing and engineering process as well.

DJ Ykcor, my Official Tour and Mixtape DJ, came to the table with
some incredible mixing on this project. It was his idea to do something
different with this project than what you might hear on a typical mixtape.
Flowing one song right into the next, he gives the listener a smooth transition between each song,
helping me tell the story of the complete project.

Last but not least, the final touches came from the one and only,
Legendary DJ from D.C. - The Funkregulata Celo.
Celo and I began teaming up last year, and he has been a huge
supporter of my music and career ever since.
It was only right to have him put the final stamp on my first Mixtape.

Deployed Marines Go Viral

As many of my fans and supporters know, once upon a time I was an active duty Marine [remember that later for Jeapardy]. So as you might imagine, I'm always interested in a home-made video of Marines, but I had no idea what I would be in for when I clicked on the video "Hold It Against me 266 Rein".

Watch the video below that jumped to 1,000,000+ views in less than 24 hours, and sparked an entire viral debate on the war, the troops, tax dollars, dont ask dont tell policy, pop music, and flight-suit strip tease! Great job Devil Dogs! [Interview with Director after the video]

"Somewhere deep in the heart of Afghanistan" in the midst of a decade-long War on Terror, a platoon of Marines, in an effort to comfort family members and friends back home, decided to have a little viral video fun, according to Corporal Andrew Tarin.

Cpl Tarin--director of the viral sensation, said it took little convincing to get his Marines on board to co-star in the Britney Spears remake of "Hold it Against Me." According to Cpl Tarin, "they wanted to put smiles on the family and friends back home just as much as I did."

With an incredible jump from zero to over a million youtube views in just two days, these Marines may join the ranks of R. Lee Ermey (Full Metal Jacket), Gene Hackman (Crimson Tide), Bea Arthur (The Golden Girls), Harvey Keitel (Reservoir Dogs), and Rob Riggle (The Daily Show with Jon Stewart) in the entertainment spotlight.

When asked "why Britney," Cpl Tarin said that the idea came to him during a routine bus ride to work. He and a fellow Marine joked about the idea, and one thing led to another. Cpl Tarin, who hails from Albuquerque, NM, says that he plans to pursue videography courses this fall, upon his safe return home.

While the public response has been primarily positive according to Cpl Tarin, fiscal conservatives have tried to turn this video into yet another launch pad to complain about wasted tax dollars. Judging by the video footage of gym scenes and other various make-shift spaces though, it seems highly unlikely that the video was shot during regular work hours, or via a Marine Corps-sanctioned video budget.

Looking back at the history of war correspondence between deployed service members and their loved ones, it seems fair to say that this video is a technological sign of the times. The ability to shoot a HD video while deployed is merely the evolution of war correspondence.

Anyone interested or inclined to walk through the various exhibits at the Marine Corps Museum in Quantico, VA can see for themselves that letters, photos, and various mementos are all typical items that service members cling to and cherish during deployments.

Tokens of home, be it a locket, photo, letter, or even a St. Michaels prayer coin that I myself carried during the duration of my enlistment, are often times the greatest source of motivation and mental strength for a service member.

Having also been a family member on the opposite side of a deployment, letters and funny photos from my Marine and his platoon gave me great comfort that helped me continue on with my daily tasks and responsibilities.

I may be bias, but I thoroughly enjoyed the video. I think the video was made as a gesture of love to the friends and family of the platoon. Solid family support has long since proven to be an integral part of a service member’s ability to perform and carry out duties. Putting family member’s minds at ease, in turn put’s the service member’s mind at ease, which inevitably leads to a more ready and alert combat unit. Well done Marines and Semper Fidelis.

BEAR WITNEZ | THE WITNEZ WINTER [album review]

Even though I am a "classically trained" journalist—as an artist, I make it my business not to do reviews on my peers. But clearly, if you know who Bear Witnez is, then you understand he is NOT my peer. A transfer artist to the D.C. metro, I first became aware of Mr. Witnez [that's what I'm calling him now *bows*] last year when I was given the chance to feature on a song with him and Whitefolkz for the Alpha Dogg mixtape. I was immediately impressed, but I’ll admit, I did not go out of my way to start loading up on his past catalog. In an oversaturated market like DC, one rarely needs to walk to the store for food, as dinner is always brought to your table, daily. Then, on my way home one night last summer, I heard "Im A Hustler" blasting out on WKYS 93.9 and was immediately enthralled and excited for several reasons, slightly selfish ["hey I’ve got a collab with that guy"], but mostly because I knew right away it would be my new favorite song for the year. Since then, I've been following his giant paws prints, anxiously awaiting the release of "Witnez Winter."

So, let’s dive in—I am going to approach this review as if my audience has no idea who Bear Witnez is. Mr. Witnez is a polished, seasoned, true veteran. There is something to be said about hip hop artists who understand the fine balance between giving the audience’s brain a lyrical workout, without running them through a crucible. I would liken the album to a “Shrek” movie; the kids will enjoy the beats and top layers of the lyrics—while the “adults” will be able to read between the lines and catch the double entendres.

True to introduction formula, with lines like “the niggas that’s ahead of you is peakin’ // you hope they open some doors, but they too busy talkin ‘bout sneakers” and references to the long-time stigma of PG [Prince George’s County, MD] artists representing the district, Witnez kicks off the project with a promising projection of what is to come.

“Twit What U Want”, the second track, is reminiscent of ‘old’ Kanye tracks like “The New Workout Plan” and “School Spirit”. Clever word play that only our generation of social network fiends would understand, shout outs to the local scene, and an infectious beat—equals my personal favorite song off the album.

One of the more blunt, yet poignant lines of the EP, “Bear gets respect, long time no deal/ yall get the shine, long time no skill” comes from track three, “The Goods”—a quick interlude-esq one-verse song. Shots fired? Perhaps.

Remember when I said the album is like a Shrek movie? Well, “Snow [raining Cocaine]” is one of those songs that might make one feel like a lyrical toddler. I’m listening. I’m head-bobbin. I’m enjoying. Yet, I get the overwhelming feeling that most of the song is going over my head. For now though, I’ll set the treadmill in my brain to walk, and just enjoy the scenery on this one until I’ve built up the stamina to run this lyrical marathon. *Bear Shrug*

Moving right along to “Who U Wanna Be,” Witnez once again reiterates his confidence and skills. Tis true, the steak and potatoes of most my generation’s emcees music, is their relentless attempts to convince their audience how awesome they are. However, Bear Witnez is the most convincing. Nevermind his resume and his accolades, Witnez walks the walk in ever line, and every verse. It’s refreshing to hear a lyricist let his LYRICS do the talking for him.

“I’m For Real (interlude)” is another instant classic from Witnez, slightly melodic and surprisingly soothing; Witnez speaks once more on his feeling towards the rap the game, but again, from a completely new angle and with a new style. Witnez might not be reinventing the wheel on this topic, but he damn sure adds traction and grooves to it.

The only song with a feature, “Clear the Room”, is a bouncy club banger…or should I say club laser. A collaboration reunion between Witnez and Whitefolkz [*side eyes the both of you*] this track is sure to be a club and fan favorite. Lyrically arrogant and cocky, mixed with a slick combination of delivery and attitude, makes this cocktail everything we love about a good club track. Local DJs no longer have an excuse for playing “Make it Rain” more than once a night—all DJs should consider this a formal, permanent, written request.

Witnez proves that less is more when each verse is perfectly packaged. Like a shot of hard liquor, Witnez packs more potency and ‘content’ into one verse than most light-beer rappers spit in whole mixtapes. DMV Helps Haiti One Year Anniversary Concert
A Community Effort in Continuing to Help Aide Haiti

Washington, DC (Friday, January 21, 2011)- It was only one year ago when a violent earthquake measuring at 7.0 hit Port De Prince, Haiti. Over 200,000 thousand citizens were killed on January 12, 2010 and that is when the world stood still. There were many efforts that began around the world in hopes to aide a country that was in distress, and the DC/MD/VA (DMV) area wanted to lend their hand as well. DMV Helps Haiti was born and on January 18, 2010 $37,000 was raised at the 930 Club in Washington, DC. The concert was a huge success with a gathering of 1,000 individuals who came together to make a difference.

To commemorate the DMV Helps Haiti Benefit Concert, the team has organized the DMV Helps Haiti One Year Anniversary Community Initiative which will include a concert featuring some of the most talented DC/MD/VA (DMV) acts. The concert will be held at The Warehouse Loft located in Washington, DC. The following acts that will be performing live are as follows: Fat Trel, Kingpen Slim, Greenspan, Harmony Muzik, Lola Monroe, Bear Witnez, DeAngelo Redman, Amber Mimz, Alison Carney, Vince L, Kyonte and more! WKYS' DJ Quicksilva will be spinning and tickets will be $20, which can be purchased at the door. This is event is a community getting together in an organic environment for the greater good. Dont Sit Idle

Gentlemen,

Most of you have sisters, aunts, grandmothers, possibly daughters.....and at the very least --a mother whose womb you came from.

So why is it that so many of you chose to stand by and watch the women if your life get publically degraded?

I could make this blog about the women who invite this behavior. I could also make this about the men who do the degrading. But i'll never know if they knew right from wrong. I cant know why they do what they do.

What I DO know is...the vast majority of you KNOW that it's wrong, and do nothing. Which is worse. The guy who watches....and KNOWS what he should do....but does nothing, is far more at fault in my opinion.

Why must it always be the women who come to the defense of a friend being call a whore? Why must a woman always defend the friend who is a accused of lying, cheating, or stealing. Why cant for once.....just once....can't a man who is in a position of influence, be the one to look another mand in the eye and say "That shit aint cool man. Its disrespectful. I can't stand behind it."

And why is it that whenever a man gets angry at a woman...the first cut is always sexual? She's a hoe, she's a slut, shes dirty...

Its because you know that the fastest, lazyiest way to tear down a woman is to degrade her virtue. Those burns are the LAZY approach.

I've been happily married 6 1/2 years now, so it has only been on very rare and special occasions that somebody steps out of line to call me a whore. And its never because they think im a whore....its because they are lazy, and its the only thing they can think of to come at me with. But I witness many of my friends, co-workers, and classmates get degraded on the daily, except unlike me, they have no wedding ring to show and cause doubt in the minds of passer-byers. Single women are often "pressumed guilty" until proven "innocent".....which is a fucking shame.

Some of yall have taken this shit too far lately, and you need to take a moment to seriously consider what you are doing.

After eight months of fighting with T-Mobile about my Motorola Cliq and all its bugs and issues....I FINALLY got a new phone: the G2 (by HTC).

So far, this phone kicks ass!! I am blogging from the phone as we speak..via the blogger app for droid. The speed is pretty much opperating at FTL (geeky Stargate refference). I have all my apps loaded up and its all very futuristic IMO.

I will remain skeptical though, as I was equally excited about the last phone too...so we shall see.

I KNOW you must be tired and bored of seeing the same old, same old line-up around the DMV. You know what im talmbout too---dontcha?

Look--Im not a promoter by any means, or an event organizer, but I got tired of waiting around for a show to come along that would fit MY music. I do a type of dance, hip hop, fusion that comes from 1 part ambition, 1 part confusion, and 2 parts creative gambling.

What better way to get this type of music out there, than to team up with other artists who, like me, are paving their own way?

Line up for the night includes Kingpen Slim (Beam Up & Beam Up 2). Taking you to another level, this artist was on top of the intergalactic music tip well before any of this male peers could even think of putting laser sound effects in their songs. KPS has BEEN on some futuristic isshhh.....so it was only right to bring him and his whole Beam Up crew on board for this event.

If you've ever been to a DC show, and seen a strikenly beautiful woman with something like drunk crop circles etched into one side of her head, who could captivate you with a girly love song, or scare you into submission with an alien abduction track -----then you know who Madam Madon is. Leader of Planet Lexicon, Madon has been prepping her fans for the apocalypse for some time now, spreading the alien gospel to all who will listen. So you know I had to make sure she joined this all-star line-up!

Alongside me (who im assuming you know a little about since ur reading my blog) Im bringing you VA-based artist, Tha Future. Seasoned BET battle champ, and up and coming "leader of the new school", Tha Future has been working his most recent mixtape "Ready to Lauch" in a fierce way. With hits like "Bright Lights"---Tha Future is a crowd favorite in both VA and DC, and a personal favorite.

Lastly, one of my most anticipated artists hails all the way from Baltimore. TT the Artist, is a beast on the mic, in the fashion world, and as an artist and photographer. Simply put --she oozes creativity and forward thinking. If im lucky, she may do a few of my favorites on Thursday night, but quite frankly, all of her infectious B-More Club tracks are more than fine by me and I know she will have the crowd panting by the time she's done!

3. Miami Music Festival
I recently got asked to perform at the Miami Music Festival in Novemeber, and again, this is another first for me---so I am very excited and honored. There will be a lot of great acts, and several DMV artists will be coming down with me to perform. 4. My pet projects!!

I've put together a show. I've already got the location, date, artist line-up, promotion team, DJ, and pretty much everything else locked in. Flyers are being made, and tickets will be available soon. It will be unlike anything else you've been to. I really blend of Hip Hop/ Elektro Pop/ and Dance all fused together in one futuristic themed night. I can't to start blasting it out....but for now, yall only get a teaser.
I'm putting together a DMV Mixtape. It will highlight the best singles that we've all be rocking to this year. The track list is done, so please no submissions. The cover photo shoot will take place next week, and the DJ is getting locked on to give you guys an awesome mix too. I'm trying to have it out by first or second week of October!!

5. Last But not least ----- My next project is well underway. Ive got incredible producers, some new, and some brought back from The Masquerade. I've got nearly 14 tracks written, and ready to record. DJ YKCOR will be the mixing DJ---and I am currently going after a very special host.....when it's locked on, ill tell you =) Its only Septemeber, and we still have 3 1/5 more months of music blitzing to do...

On August 28, 2010 from 5-7 p.m., The International Bad Girls Club presents a Night of a Thousand Stars – A fashion and music extravaganza spotlighting stars of DC, Maryland and Virginia sponsored by Hennesy Black and Mercedes Benz. Taking place at The U.S. Navy Memorial, this event will be a fashion show with live entertainment from some of the areas hottest talent. Event hosts inculde 2 Face Ya Wild Boy and The Funk Regulator DJ Celo. Slated performers include Rated R, Judah, Likeblood, Whitefolkz and, Jay Mills. More artists will be announced. All clothing worn by models will be representative of local designers and includes a sponsorship from Avail Apparel. The IBGC is dedicated to giving back to the community and non-profit organizations, therefore a portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to Autism Speaks, a charity for Autistic children.

The cost for advanced general admission tickets is $20 and $30 for VIP seating. General admission tickets will be available for purchase the day of the event. Tickets will be available for purchase from any IBGC member or by emailing internationalbadgirls@gmail.com.

Album Release Party Re-Cap

July 23, 2010 -- Washington, DC

Held at The Sky Club, atop one of DC's hottest nightclubs, Zanzibar, The Masquerade album release party was a great success. Everyone who mattered most was in attendance, and those who have been supporting my work for the last year were all there to share the night and celebrate my debut album.

After a later-than-planned mic check and gift bag set-up, myself and Madam Madon headed back to a nearby hotel, where we calmed the nerves and got ready for the night. By the time I got to the party, which was somewhat later than puntual, but not quite Diva-late. . . the place was pretty well packed with friends, family, producers, media, models, and even a few haters I suspect/hope.

I want to give a big shout out and thank you to the ladies of the International Bad Girls Club for hosting the night and getting the party started properly! As I got ready for the night, it was a huge relief to know that these professional, classy women, were handling album sales for me, greetings guests, and bringing a touch of glamour to the VIP. Thank you!

Of course---in my opinion, the highlight of the night was the performances.

First, Madam Madon performed a new song from her upcoming Planet Lexicon album called "Party." Then, Whitefolkz joined me on stage as we performed the title track of the album and fan favorite, "Masquerade."

The set was then followed up by "Last Night", a track produced by Benny Rome of Drum Majors ATL, and "Broken" produced by Jacksonville producer J Green. Both tracks were accompanied by one of Northern Virginias most talented dance crews, DV8 Dance Crew.

Of course the set wouldn't be complete without at least touching on "Take a Bite" the hit single from last fall and DMV Record of the Year Nominee, that kick started the whole album. Technical difficulties over the recognizable instrumental aside, it was mostly a dedication and thank you to Madam Madon, Divinity, and Prhyme for their work and support along the way. I closed the set with one of my personal favorites, "Living a Dream" produced by J-Scrilla and featuring K-Beta (who unfortunately was unable to make it). The song and set closed out with me getting mushy with my artists, producers, Marines, and family who were in the audience.

Finally, to bring this post to an end, I want to say thank you to Denene Mitchell, my event planner; Butchie Farrell, The Sky Club's Friday Night promoter; DMV Life.com, Backstage Artist Lounge, Makin It' Mag, & Shea Terra Organics for providing the goods that went into the lovely gift bags; DrankandDank.com and all other media that was roaming around that night; Sasha Vann and Ego M&BC for your hard work leading up to the night; and lastly--thank you to all the supporters who were not only at the party, but also those who have been supporting me the whole way, bought the album, featured on the album, recorded the album, mixed the album, and SPUN tracks from the album in your sets or on your radio shows and websites. JULY 20th--The Masquerade Drops

My album is finally here! The digital copy will be available on Itunes, Amazon, Napster, and most of all the other lesser known, but still equally credible music downloading sites on July 20th. Hard copies are also available at shows and upon request.

In the mean time though, you can pick up a copy of The Masquerade album on the 20th @ LIV. I'll be there to support the UAU Open mic hosted by Gods'Illa, support DJ Jav's Happy hour (which starts at 7pm, don't be late or he will kirk out on you on Twitter and #Inreallife), and to celebrate the release w/my fav people in the DMV.

I'll also be running around the city all week getting ready for the album release party @The Sky Club next week Friday. I pretty much have free reign of the club and guestlist for the night, so why the hell are you going to be anywhere else that night, when you can come party with me for free on the 3rd level VIP floor of Zanzibar (700 Water Street, SW DC). My party will be hosted by your favorite DC bad girls...The International Bad Girls Club. You've seen then everywhere from Ibiza, to Pure, to Eyebar....and now they will be @ The Sky Club-- looking like the hot, sexy, pieces of eye candy i've asked them to be!

Anybody who is anybody, who had anything to do with my album, will be in the building. Along with the hundreds of people I have worked with this last year, who have been supportive of my project along the way.

A short performance starts at 9pm (as I mentioned on Facebook....that's not code talk for "be there around 11:30-ish", or whenever you finish your Friday pre-party nap). I'll be joined on stage by Whitefolkz, who is not only of my favorite performers and biggest supporters, but he is also on the title track that everyone loves so much! And Of course... Madam Madon, who has been a huge part of my project, will also perform a brand new track from her upcoming Planet Lexicon LP. I am a huge groupie of hers, and this was the best way I could think of to get backstage during one of her performances. Lastly, I will be joined by none other than K-Beta. He will join me for one of my favorite songs off the album. K-Beta and the whole Inner Loop Records team has been holding me down the whole way from start to finish with this album, they are like family, and I'm happy to have them in attendance as well.
